Ann Van Dusen joined the School of Foreign Service as the first Director of the Global Human Development Program in 2011, having taught for SFS and SAIS since 2006. She has extensive public and private sector experience working on issues of economic and social development, humanitarian assistance and poverty alleviation both internationally and in the United States. She has held senior management positions at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Save the Children. Her publications have focused on the use of social indicators, health and poverty, women and family in the Arab world, foreign aid reform, and most recently, education. She works with and advises a number of not-for-profit organizations working on poverty and development.
